COSMOS 2462 is a Russian military military satellite. Observers believe the satellite carries a high-resolution camera to spy on other countries. U.S. tracking data indicates the Soyuz rocket deployed the payload in an orbit stretching from an altitude of 203 miles [327 km] to 105 miles [169 km]. The inclination is about 67.2 degrees. The parameters closely match the orbits reached by previous Soyuz rockets carrying Kobalt optical reconnaissance satellites.
