FENGYUN-4C (FY-4C) is a Chinese second-generation geostationary meteorological satellite operated by the China Meteorological Administration. Part of the FY-4 series, it carries instruments such as the Advanced Geosynchronous Radiation Imager (AGRI), an infrared sounder (GIIRS), a Lightning Mapping Imager (LMI) and space-environment sensors to provide multi-spectral imaging, atmospheric sounding, lightning detection and spaceweather monitoring. It resides in geostationary orbit to support operational weather forecasting, severe weather early warning and climate/environment monitoring over the Asia-Pacific region.
