DISCOVERY TO DOCK WITH STATION TODAY - Space shuttle Discovery is scheduled to dock with the International Space Station at 1:54 p.m. EDT. About an hour before docking, STS-124 Commander Mark Kelly and Pilot Kenneth Ham will guide the shuttle through a Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver, or back-flip, giving the Expedition 17 crew the opportunity to take pictures of the orbiter’s protective heat-resistant tiles. These photos will be sent to engineers on Earth for analysis.    More

NASA CLEARS SHUTTLE FOR LIFTOFF ON SATURDAY - NASA managers cleared space shuttle Discovery and a crew of seven for launch on Saturday to install Japan's research laboratory onto the International Space Station, officials said on Thursday. Liftoff is scheduled for 5:02 p.m. EDT (2102 GMT) from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The shuttle will be carrying a bus-sized lab module named Kibo, a Japanese word for hope.    More

NASA: SPACE STATION VIEW IS GOOD THIS WEEK - The U.S. space agency says this is a good week to get "an incredible view" of the International Space Station flying 220 miles above the Earth. National Aeronautics and Space Administration officials say the station will be in nearly constant sunlight Wednesday through Friday, "offering an incredible view to sky gazers across the country."    More
