GPS satellite launch set for Oct. 29 in Cape Canaveral United Launch Alliance is preparing for an Oct. 29 launch from Cape Canaveral of a new Global Positioning System satellite, the eighth in the newest series of 12 built by Boeing. An Atlas V rocket's 18-minute launch window opens at 1:21 p.m. ET. Last week, Boeing announced that the series' seventh satellite, launched from the Cape by an Atlas V on Aug. 1, had completed tests in orbit and entered service.   More
