COSMOS 482 DESCENT CRAFT

COSMOS 482 DESCENT CRAFT is no longer on orbit
COSMOS 482 DESCENT CRAFT is classified as:

NORAD ID: 6073
Int'l Code: 1972-023E
Launch date: March 31, 1972
Source: Commonwealth of Independent States (former USSR) (CIS)
Launch site: TYURATAM MISSILE AND SPACE COMPLEX (TTMTR)
Decay date: 2025-05-10

COSMOS 482 (KOSMOS 482), launched 31 March 1972, was an attempted Soviet Venus probe which failed to escape low Earth orbit. It is expected to crash back to Earth sometime around early 9 to 10 May 2025. Its landing module, which weighs 495 kilograms (1,091 lb), is highly likely to reach the surface of Earth in one piece as it was designed to withstand 300 g of acceleration and 100 atmospheres of pressure.

According to ESA (10 May 09:56 CEST): "As the descent craft was not spotted by radar over Germany at the expected 07:32 UTC / 09:32 CEST pass, it is most likely that the reentry has already occurred."
