Mission Control Center said in a statement carried by Russian news agencies that a fragment of space debris would fly by too far to pose any danger to the space outpost, so a plan to fire booster rockets to carry out the maneuver on Thursday at 07:22 a.m. Moscow time (0322 GMT) was canceled.    More

2 TELECOM SATELLITES LAUNCHED FROM FRENCH GUIANA - Arianespace has launched two satellites from the South American country of French Guiana that will provide telecommunication services to the Eastern Hemisphere. The ASTRA 2F will provide direct-to-home broadcast services to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The GSAT-10 satellite will serve the Indian Space Research Organization and provide direct-to-home broadcasting and radio-navigation services.    More

The satellite lifted off from the Jiuquan space center in northwest China at 0412 GMT (12:12 a.m. EDT) atop a Long March 2D rocket. INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION MAY HAVE TO DODGE DEBRIS FROM OLD RUSSIAN SATELLITE, INDIAN ROCKET - The International Space Station may have to move to avoid some space junk. NASA said debris from an old Russian satellite and a fragment from an Indian rocket could come too close to the station on Thursday. The robotic Automated Transfer Vehicle 3 (ATV-3) spacecraft was slated to undock from the space station Tuesday evening, but a technical glitch with a laptop computer inside the station prevented to orbital departure.
